Therapy Expert Programs

The Medtronic Pump & CGM (Continuos Glucose Monitoring) Therapy Expert Programs are designed to update healthcare professionals on the most current scientific and technical information regarding insulin pump therapy and related products.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Medtronic-Bayer Therapy Expert Programs provide practical training using a case-based approach to patient care.

The keynote speaker is a healthcare provider with expertise in managing patients on insulin pump therapy and/or CGM. Other faculty will include a team of Medtronic clinical experts who will lead discussions and facilitate practice exercises with hands-on training and case study presentations.

The objectives and content of each program are adjusted and tailored based on the attending clinicians’ CVs and answers provided on the pre-program survey. Although programs may vary, click the right arrow to view a typical agenda.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for the Pump Therapy Expert Program?
Your Medtronic Sales Representative will provide you with registration information.

How will I know that I'm registered and that all details have been taken care of?
You will receive a program confirmation once your registration is complete.

Are there any requirements for attendance?
You will need to submit an up-to-date CV to attend the program. In addition, you may be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

What does a typical travel schedule look like?
Your Medtronic representative will provide you with details on making travel arrangements.

An itinerary will be emailed to you containing information about your hotel accommodations and travel.

Most clinicians find it best to arrive at their hotel the evening before the program.

Will meals be provided?
The following meals are included as part of the Pump Therapy Expert Program:

  • Breakfast: Served outside the meeting area 30 minutes prior to start
  • Lunch: A modest lunch will be provided the day of the program
  • Dinner: An optional company sponsored dinner may be held. Please speak with your Medtronic representative for details.

Additional meals will be reimbursed according to the AdvaMed Code. (A copy of the Medtronic Clinician Expense Policy will be provided with your program materials.)

Is there a cost to attend?
No.

Are CME credits available?
This course does not offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

Will I be compensated for my time?
No. This is an educational program and there is no compensation. However, all travel and meal expenses incurred in relation to this program will be covered.

How should I dress for the program?
Dress code for the day is “business casual.” Please dress comfortably as you will be sitting most of the day. We suggest that you bring a light sweater or wrap – as hotel conference rooms can be cool.

Ladies, consider wearing a two piece outfit (such as a top and pants or skirt) – this allows for easier access to the abdomen when it is time to insert the infusion set.

Pump Practicum In A Box

The Local Practicum In A Box Program allows Medtronic to update healthcare professionals on the most current scientific and technical information regarding insulin pump therapy and related products. It is a 5-6 hour, 1-Day program which includes presentations from Medtronic’s Diabetes Clinical Managers and hands-on training in an interactive, learning environment.

This program is ideal for those who are interested in advancing their knowledge about insulin pump therapy and do not wish to travel outside of their local area. More than just a demonstration, Practicum in a Box is a comprehensive education course designed to fully develop one’s insulin pump therapy education.

After participating in the program, you will have an increased knowledge and practical understanding of:

  • Studies and clinical evidence that demonstrateimproved glycemic control for patients who use insulin pump therapy.
  • How to program and adjust pump settings, insert infusion sets, and deliver boluses.
  • Clinical relevance and importance of blood glucose meter accuracy for the pump patient.
