CareLink® Personal Software

CareLink Personal Software

CareLink Personal Software is a secure, web-based therapy management software that allows your patients to:

  • Upload data from their insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device, and blood glucose meter into a free, web-based program
  • See detailed reports that help them better understand their glucose control and uncover patterns missed by meters and logbooks alone
  • Easily store their information and allow a healthcare professional access to it via CareLink Pro® Software

CareLink® Personal Software

Protecting patient privacy with the highest security measures

At Medtronic, we care about the security of your patients' personal information. CareLink Personal Software complies with the strictest privacy regulations including HIPAA guidelines. The system also uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, a data encryption method which helps ensure that patient information remains unreadable during the transfer. Storing data in CareLink Personal software is often safer than storing it on a home computer system that is connected to the Internet. We use a three-tier architecture that secures the data behind three separate firewalls.

Commonly Used Reports

CareLink Personal Software reports make it easier to track blood glucose and sensor glucose levels, and to compare any changes in those levels with your patients' daily activities, such as meals and exercise routines. Charts and graphs allow them to see the changes graphically, while tables provide the actual numeric values. Together, these charts, graphs and tables help you and your patients discover patterns and problems more easily than with meter software and logbooks alone. Becoming familiar with CareLink Personal reports allows patients to take steps to better control their glucose levels.

Sensor Daily Overlay

The Sensor Daily Overlay Report shows 7 days of glucose sensor readings in a single chart, allowing you to identify recurring patterns from day to day or at specific times of day .

Sensor Daily Overlay
1
Sensor readings for one day – each day is shown with a different color.

2
Target glucose range – the green shaded area represents the target glucose range set in the preferences section of CareLink® Personal Software and shows whether you are meeting your goals for glucose control.

3
Hypoglycemic threshold – the red line represents the low glucose indicator set in the preferences section. The default setting is 60 mg/dL.

4
Specific information regarding each day's sensor readings and calibrations.

5
Excursion Summary – shows the number and type of excursions outside the target glucose range.

6
Duration Distribution – shows the amount of time spent above, in and below your target glucose range on a pie chart.

Sensor Overlay by Meal

The Sensor Daily Overlay by Meal Report shows the effects of food, bolus insulin and pre-meal glucose levels on postmeal control.

Sensor Overlay by Meal
1
Graph shows a 7-day overlay of glucose readings at the breakfast, lunch and dinner periods set in the CareLink® Software preferences. The overlay graph will only show SG readings for days when carbohydrates have been entered during the preset meal period.

2
Shows the range of glucose readings for the pre- and post-meal period over 7 days.

3
Daily Average by Meal Event – the daily average glucose reading for each meal period.

4
Duration Distribution – the duration and percentage of time spent above, in and below the target glucose range for each meal period.

Daily Summary

The Daily Summary Report shows glucose readings, basal and bolus insulin delivery, and carbohydrate and exercise levels for one day.

Daily Summary
1
Blue line represents sensor readings.

2
Green shaded area represents the target glucose range set in the preferences section of CareLink® Software.

3
Black circles represent linked BG meter readings, marked "Paradigm BG."

4
Black squares represent BG readings manually entered into the device.

5
The red line is the low glucose indicator set in the preferences section of the CareLink Software. The default setting is 60 mg/dL. If your device has a Threshold Suspend feature you may want to set this value to match your Threshold Suspend value.

6
Sensor alarm received.

7
Shows basal and bolus insulin. This looks different if you are using Guardian.

8
Pump alarm received.

9
Threshold Suspend with auto resume of basal insulin after 2 hours identified by a dashed red line with alarms at the start and end of the event.

10
Threshold Suspend with response by user.

11
Manual Suspend by user.
